Tonight at the Target Center, the Minnesota Timberwolves unofficially eliminated the Charlotte Bobcats from playoff contention after their 102-90 win. Minnesota snapped its 4-game losing streak with the in as they improved to 14-16, while the Bobcats lost its franchise record 16th game in a row and are now at a disappointing 3-26.

Leading the way for the Timberwolves in the win was Kevin Love, who single-handedly won the game for Minnesota, as he led all game scorers with 30 points to go along with 18 rebounds, while Nikola Pekovic came out of nowhere and had 21 points on 10-17 shooting. The two were joined by J.J. Barea, who came off the bench and had 12 points and rounding out the group of double-figure scorers for the Wolves was Luke Ridnour, who had 10 points.

The Bobcats were led in scoring by Kemba Walker, who had 21 points in the loss.

Charlotte looks to find a way to snap its season-long losing skid on Friday as they face the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre for a 7:00 tip-off.

Scouting the Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats are searching for a result to end this long 15-game losing streak as they enter tonight's game in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Timberwolves. There is a good chance that D.J. Augustin could return to the Bobcats lineup for tonight's game as they begin a brief 3-game road trip that will take them to Toronto and Indiana, before returning home next Wednesday to face the Pacers at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Scouting the Timberwolves

Minnesota is on a losing skid of their own as they look to end their 4-game losing skid tonight as they welcome in the reeling Bobcats to the Twin Cities. Of course, Kevin Love is the player to watch, but don't count out Ricky Rubio, who's currently averaging 10.9 points per game(ppg) this season for Minnesota as he and Love look to help Minnesota end its losing skid tonight in a battle between two struggling teams.

Despite losing their 15th straight game in a row, the Charlotte Bobcats did manage to hang in there until the end in their 98-89 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers back on Monday night at Time Warner Cable Arena before 13,773. Charlotte is 3-25 on the season, while the 76ers improved their record to 20-9 with the win.

Bobcats head coach Paul Silas was upbeat despite the outcome as he is looking forward to seeing some of his players return to action soon. "I keep saying that once we get everybody back, we're going to be good." said Silas, So, if you give me back 15 from D.J. Augustin and 15 from Gerald Henderson, that's 30 points were missing. We're a lot better."

The 76ers were led in the win by Lou Williams, who came off the bench for Philadelphia and had 23 points on 7-14 shooting from the field, while Thaddeus Young had 20 points in the effort for Doug Collins' squad. The Sixers had 2 starters get into double-figures, with Jrue Holiday scoring 19 points and Jodie Meeks rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the 76ers with 11 points. Andre Iguodala was held to only 3 points on just 1-6 shooting from the field. Philadelphia shot 43.4% from the field in the win, while they won the rebounding battle with a +3 margin(40-37).

The Bobcats were led in the loss by Corey Maggette, who was 8-16 from the field to finish with 22 points, while Kemba Walker added 21 points in the effort. They were both joined by Reggie Williams, who had 14 points on 5-13 shooting and Byron Mullens came off the bench and scored 13 points as Charlotte only shot 41.1% from the field, buy they did manage to have a good night from beyond the arc with a 41.2% three-point percentage.

Tonight, the Bobcats are looking to put an end to their 15-game losing streak as they travel to Minnesota to face Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center in Minneapolis at 8:00 p.m.

Last night was "Hardwood Classics" night at Time Warner Cable Arena as 19,110 saw Blake Griffin turn the game into a "Dunkfest" as he helped carry the Los Angeles Stars past the Carolina Cougars 111-86. With the win, the Stars(a.k.a. the Clippers) improved to 17-8 on the season, while the Cougars(a.k.a. Bobcats) dropped their franchise record 14th game in a row to go to 3-24 on the season.

Cougars head coach Paul Silas was not a very happy camper at all during last night's loss, even ripping on his own team during one of his timeouts, as Cougars forward Corey Maggette explained it after the loss. "We're not just playing hard as a group. We're just not doing the things right and we need to make shots." said Maggette, who finished the night with 12 points on 3-8 shooting in the loss for the Cougars.

Griffin did steal the show for the Stars with his monster dunks, including the one that "Tore the roof off the Sucker" as everyone knew that Griffin was "A Bad Mother--SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" and he led the way with 21 points and 10 assists on 7-14 shooting from the field. "When we're out there, its just eye contact or whatever." Griffin said, "That's the way we like to play and that's what worked for us tonight."

Griffin was also joined in the double-double category by Chris Paul, who finished the night with 18 poitns and 14 assists, while Caron Butler added in 16 on the night. Randy Foye was only 5-7 from the field for Vinny Del Negro and his Stars, but did finish with 12 points and DeAndre Jordan rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Stars and its starters with 11 points to go with 12 rebounds. As a team, the L.A. Stars shot 52.6% from the field, while they were only 8-20 from three point range to finish with an even 40% and out-rebounded Carolina by a final margin of 48-32.

And for the Carolina Cougars in the loss, they were led by Kemba "Juice" Walker and his 19 point peformance, while the above-mentioned Maggette had 12, with Tyrus Thomas coming off the bench to add in 11 points and Derrick Brown along with Byron Mullens both had 10 points each for Carolina in the loss.

Tomorrow night, the Charlotte Bobcats will be back in action as they try to snap their franchise-record 14-game losing skid as they take on the Philadelphia 76ers at Time Warner Cable Arena for a 7:00 p.m. start.

Last night before a sold-out crowd of 19,379 at Time Warner Cable Arena, the Chicago Bulls came out firing without the help of Derrick Rose as they ran up the score and ran out of Charlotte with a 95-64 win over the Bobcats, who have now lost 13 straight games, tying them for the longest losing streak in franchise history, and are now 3-23 on the year, while Chicago improved to 23-6 on the season so far.

With Rose not in the lineup, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau called in his special enforcer, Joakim Noah to step it up big for Chicago, and he did just that as he led the way with 17 points in 30 minutes of action on 7-9 shooting from the field, while adding in 14 rebounds on the night, while Carlos Boozer joined in on the fun and scored 16 points on 8-19 shooting to contribute to the Bulls final field goal percentage of 43.3%. Luol Deng had 12 points on 5-13 shooting and John Lucas III, came off the bench and rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Bulls with 11 points.

The Bobcats had only 1 player in double-figures in last night's loss, and that player was Derrick Brown, who came off the bench and scored 10 points. Last night up at TD Garden in Boston, Paul Pierce not only passed into history, but his team, the Boston Celtics handed the Charlotte Bobcats another loss as they are now at 3-22 thanks to Boston's 94-84 win over the slumping Bobcats to improve to 14-10 on the year.

Pierce's 3 in the third quarter of action vaulted him into sole possession of second place on the Celtics list of all-time leading scorers with 21,797 during his time with the Celtics and he was very pleased to surpass Larry Bird for second on the list. "It was a relief. So much was hanging over the past couple of days, and it's a great feat knowing you are going to be up there with all the great Celtics." said Pierce, who finished the night with 15 points on just 6-18 shooting on the night.

Despite another loss for Charlotte, head coach Paul Silas knows his team isn't giving up just yet. "When you have to play your main guys for as long as we do, it gets tough." said Silas, "We've just got to keep battling."

Leading the way for the victorious Celtics in the win was Kevin Garnett, the Mauldin, South Carolina native led Boston with 22 points as he was 10-15 from the field, while Ray Allen, who hailed from Dalzell, SC added in 17 points on the night. The above-mentioned Pierce did have 15 points in the win, with Brandon Bass coming off the bench for Boston and finished the night with 13 points and Rajon Rondo rounded out the list of double-figure scorers for the Celtics with 10 points.

Teamwise, Boston shot 50.6% from the field and was a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 37-32. Charlotte in the loss was led in scoring by Reggie Williams, who got the start last night and finished the game with 21 points on 6-15 shooting from the field, while he was 2-8 from beyond the arc, while he was joined by Derrick Brown, who has 20 points off the bench for the Bobcats, with Kemba Walker, who was selected to play in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on All-Star Weekend in Orlando, going 5-13 from the field to finish with 16 points and Byron Mullens rounding out the group of double-figure scorers for the Bobcats with 11 off the bench.

The Charlotte Bobcats losing skid is now at 11 thanks to a 95-89 win by the Phoenix Suns tonight at the US Airways Center in Phoenix. The Bobcats are still in dead last in the Eastern Conference as well as the Southeast Division with a record of 3-21, while Phoenix saw its record rise to 9-14.

Despite the outcome, it was Kemba Walker and Reggie Williams that did gave the Bobcats some hope as they combined to score 43 points, as Walker led the way in the loss with 22 points on 7-16 shooting from the field, while Williams finished with 21 on the night. Boris Diaw had a strong game as he finished with 13 points and Bismack Biyombo rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the Bobcats with 11 points to go with 12 rebounds. As a team, the Bobcats shot well from the field as they finished with a final percentage of 44%, while they out-rebounded Phoenix by a +1 margin(48-47).

Phoenix was led in the win by Michael Redd and his 17 points on the night, with Robin Lopez coming off the bench and adding 13 points for Alvin Gentry's squad. Marcin Gortat had a good game on the night, scoring 12 points and Steve Nash along with Markieff Morris both had 11 points each.

Charlotte will have 2 days to rest up as they wrap up the road trip on Tuesday night in Boston against the Celtics at TD Garden.

Tonight in Portland at the Rose Garden, the Portland Trail Blazers came out firing early and they fired their shots often as they cruised to a 43-point shellacking of the Charlotte Bobcats 112-68 as Charlotte is now at a pathetic 3-20 on the season and all signs are pointing not only to the top pick in the NBA Draft come June, but head coach Paul Silas could possibly be fired or be forced to resign in the days to come if things don't turn around in the next 2 games for Charlotte, while the Trail Blazers improved to 13-9 on the year.

Portland outplayed and outsmarted Charlotte the whole game through, finishing with final marks of 55% from the field, an even 50% from beyond the arc and shot 85% from the free-throw line as Nate McMillian's squad came to play tonight against a Charlotte team that has lost 10 straight games.

Individually for Portland, it was Jamal Crawford that stole the show and did Charlotte in as he led the way with 24 points off the bench in 21 minutes of action as he was 9-14 from the field, while Gerald Wallace, who Portland acquired from Charlotte last season, finished the night with 23 points with LaMarcus Aldridge carrying the load with 22 points and Raymond Felton, another former Bobcat, rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the Blazers with 11 points.

Bryant finished with 24 points as he was only 9-21 from the field and only 2-11 from three-point range, while Andrew Bynum had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Troy Murphy and former College of Charleston star Andrew Goudelock both came off the bench and had 12 points each for Mike Brown's squad and Pau Gasol, along with Matt Barnes, both had 10 points to round out the double-figure scoring for the Lakers, who shot 55.3% from the field in their blowout win over Charlotte.

Last Saturday night at Time Warner Cable Arena, the Charlotte Bobcats and Washington Wizards squared off in a back-and-forth battle, but the Wizards came away with a 102-99 win before 17,761 at "The Cable Box" in Uptown Charlotte. The Wizards improved to 4-16, while the Bobcats drop to 3-18 as their losing streak reached 8 straight games.

Despite the outcome, Kemba Walker not only recorded his first-ever NBA triple-double, but he became the third player in the 8-year history of the Bobcats to accomplish the feat(Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw both did it last season) with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in the loss for Charlotte back on Saturday.

The Wizards were led by JaVale McGee, who was unstoppable for Washington in the win, scoring 22 points on 9-14 shooting while throwing in 10 rebounds on the night, while he was joined by Nick Young and his 11-point outing. Also contributing to the cause were former Clemson star Trevor Booker, who came off the bench and finished up with 16 points and was perfect from the field(6-6), with John Wall getting himself a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, Jordan Crawford also got into the act off the bench for Randy Wittman's squad and finishing with 12 points and Rashard Lewis rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Wizards with 10 points. Washington shot 52.6% from the field, despite the Bobcats out-rebounding them by a 42-32 margin.

The Bobcats on the other side of the statsheet were led by Byron Mullens off the bench, as he finished with a new career high of 23 points in the loss, while Boris Diaw had a strong game with 21 points and 10 assists, and we mentioned Walker's 20 points to go with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Matt Carroll and Tyrus Thomas both had 13 points to round out the group of double-figure scorers for the Bobcats in Saturday's game. The Bobcats next game will be against a team that they love to beat whenever they see them on their schedule, the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night at 10:30 p.m. at the Staples Center to begin a West Coast road trip.

Last night in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia 76ers were looking for a good-luck charm to help bring them the win, and it was none other than one of their part owners. Will Smith was in attendance and he was the inspiration for their 89-72 win over the Bobcats. Philadelphia is now 13-6, while the Bobcats lost their 7th game in a row and are now 3-17 on the season.

Another reason for the Sixers win over Charlotte was Lou Williams, who finished the night with 17 points to lead Philadelphia, who is still one of the surprising teams in the Eastern Conference, but don't tell that to head coach Doug Collins. "I do believe we've been home too much. But as long as we're here, we've got to keep winning." Collins said. Jrue Holiday also joined in on the fun, scoring 15 points on 6-14 shooting. Jodie Meeks also contributed to the cause, scoring 14 points and Thaddeus Young came off the bench and scored 10 to round out the double-figure scoring for the 76ers, who finished the night shooting 44.9% from the field, an even 40% from three-point range and 81.2% from the free-throw line.

Those stats were frustrating for the Bobcats as a whole as Paul Silas was ejected in the second quarter with 4:38 left. "I just kind of lost it out there. I said something I shouldn't said and then kicked the ball." quoted Silas, "Everyone loses it now and then and I did." Charlotte was led in the loss by Kemba Walker, who had 14 points on the night, while Matt Carroll and Derrick Brown came off the bench and finished with 11 points each and Boris Diaw returned to the lineup and had 10 points to round out the group of double-figure scorers for the Bobcats in the loss.

Wednesday night in Washington, the Charlotte Bobcats once again had another poor outing as the Washington Wizards knocked Charlotte to the cellar in the Southeast Division and in the Eastern Conference after their 92-75 win over Charlotte in Randy Wittman's first game since taking over for Flip Saunders.

The Wizards improved their mark to 3-15, while the Bobcats fell to 3-16, as they are now the worst team in the league on this long losing streak. Leading the way for the Wizards in the win was Nick Young, who had 20 points on 7-18 shooting from the field in 29 minutes of action. Tonight was one of the worst nights ever for the Charlotte Bobcats as the New York Knicks came out and ran up the score big time to come away with a 111-78 win over Charlotte before an announced crowd of 16,802 at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Bobcats record on the season is now at a pathetic 3-15 as they are almost in the cellar in the Southeast Division standings and their losing streak is now at 5 games, while New York snapped its 6-game losing streak and improving to 7-10.

"We just didn't have enough." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, who is more likely on the "Hot Seat" with that poor performance tonight. But the man that went out and got payback on his former team was Tyson Chandler, he stole the show for the Knickerbockers as he finished the night with 20 points to go with 17 rebounds for New York, earning some praise from head coach Mike D'Antoni. "Tyson was unbelievable, I thought he was phenomenal."

Joining Chandler was Amar'e Stoudemire, who had 18 points on the night as he was 7-12 from the field, while Landry Fields also added in 18 points as well and Jared Jeffries rounded out the double-figure scoring for New York with 11 as the Knicks shot 50% from the field, and 36.8% from the field, and out-rebounding Charlotte by a 53-33 margin as the Bobcats defense contained Carmelo Anthony, holding him to only 1 point on the night.

And for the Bobcats in the loss, the only bright spot in the game was Kemba Walker, who had 22 points on 7-17 shooting in 35 minutes of action, while Derrick Brown and Gerald Henderson both had 15 points each.

Tomorrow night, the Bobcats travel to Washington to face John Wall and the Wizards at Verizon Center for a 7:00 start, before Charlotte takes on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

In that game, Brooks led the way with 20 points on only 9-17 shooting from the field, while he was joined by Deron Williams, who had 19 points along with Anthony Morrow and Jordan Farmar rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for New Jersey with 13 points. Kris Humphries was New Jersey's leading rebounder with 13 in the win. When you're a team that's missing one key piece of the puzzle like the Chicago Bulls, you have to dig deep and find a way to come back and win. That's what they exactly did as they held off a late Bobcats rally to defeat Charlotte 95-89 last night at the United Center as they improved their record on the season to 15-3, while Charlotte falls to 3-13 on the season as Chicago did it without captain Derrick Rose, as well as Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson.

"Without all those players, I really thought we had a shot at them tonight." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, whose team is in a midst of a 3-game losing streak. Chicago had to look to Carlos Boozer to take charge for Tom Thibodeau's squad, and he did just that as the led the way with 23 points on 10-22 shooting from the field. He was joined by another former Duke standout, Luol Deng as he had 22 points. Rip Hamilton made an interesting appearance in the Bulls victory last night, finishing with 20 points in 31 minutes of action and C.J. Watson rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the victorious Bulls with 11 as Chicago only shot 47.1% from the field.

"We have the right guys." Thibodeau quoted, "No matter who is out, we have enough to win. These guys play to win."

Last night at the Amway Center in Orlando, the Orlando Magic cruised to its 5th straight win in a row thanks to a 96-89 comeback victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats record on the season is at 3-12, while Orlando improved to 10-3. Despite another losing effort, Bobcats head coach Paul Silas did credit his team for defending Dwight Howard well on the night. "We defended Howard very well, and we went into the lane too much." said Silas, "They made three point shots and that was the game right there."

Howard did lead the way for the Magic in the win, scoring 25 points on 11-18 shooting from the field to go with 17 rebounds in 39 minutes of action, while he was joined by Jameer Nelson, who had 17 points. Hedo Turkoglu contributed to the effort with 15 points as he was 5-8 from the field, and Ryan Anderson along with Von Wafer both had 13 points each. On the night, Orlando shot 46.2% from the field, but had somewhat of a down night from three-point range, only shooting 31.8%.

"We've relied on our shooting and when we have a night where offensively we're not very good and the ball's not dropping, we get ourselves into trouble." said Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy, "We've got to be able to rely on our defense, which I think in the second half we did."

And for the Bobcats in the loss, Gerald Henderson carried the load for Charlotte, leading them with 22 points, while Kemba Walker added in 15 points and D.J. Augustin had 13 points. The biggest surprise on the night for Charlotte was Bismack Biyombo, who came off the bench and came out of nowhere to finish with 11 points and 10 rebounds for his first-ever NBA double-double.

Yesterday afternoon was a tale of 2 halves for the Charlotte Bobcats, in one half, they were playing good, but when the second half came around, it was nothing but a miserable one as Kyrie Irving led the comeback for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they defeated Charlotte 102-94 before 14,988 at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Cavaliers improved to 6-6 on the season, while the Bobcats drop to 3-11 on the year.

Irving finished the day on 9-16 shooting to finish with 25 points to lead the way for the Cavaliers, while native Charlottean Antawn Jamison had another good game in his hometown, scoring 20 points on only 9-16 shooting from the field in the cause. They were both joined by Omri Casspi and his 14 point performance, and Anderson Varejao had 14 points as well to go along with 12 rebounds and Alonzo Gee rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points as Cleveland finished the day shooting 48.8% from the field.

And for the Bobcats in the loss, D.J. Augustin carried the load as he scored 24 points on just 9-17 shooting from the field. He was joined by Gerald Henderson as he had 17 points, with DJ White coming off the bench and scoring 15 points with Kemba Walker rounding out the Bobcats list of double-figure scorers with 14 points as Charlotte only shot 44.2% from the field in the loss yesterday afternoon.

Tonight, the Bobcats find themselves in another back-to-back situation as they travel to Orlando to face Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic for a 7:00 start at the Amway Center.

After Friday's blowout loss to the Detroit Pistons, the Charlotte Bobcats knew that they had to come out with a better result in their next game, and last night was no exception as the Bobcats came out of the gate firing on all eight cylinders as they led throughout and held on to a 112-100 win over the Golden State Warriors in front of an announced crowd of 16,122 at Time Warner Cable Arena to snap its 6-game losing skid and improving to 3-10 on the season, while Golden State falls to 3-8.

They did it with a shuffle of the lineup as Paul Silas inserted Byron Mullens to get another start at the center position and inserting Kemba Walker in the lineup and that worked out well for the team to play hard and get the win, according to coach Silas. "It was wonderful tonight to see the guys play and just run the court. I thought the change really helped us." Silas quoted, "Putting Kemba in the starting lineup was the right thing. He's ready."

When Walker heard that he was getting the start, he took command and finished with 23 points, a career high for him in his first season in the NBA. "I got a chance to play myself into a rhythm tonight and we picked up the tempo early." said Walker, who was 8-15 from the field in the win, "We came out there and pushed the ball tonight. We wanted to get some easy baskets and get things going."

But the story of the night happened to be Gerald Henderson, he recorded a season high 26 points on 9-17 shooting in the win to lead the way for Charlotte as the Bobcats finished the night shooting an even 50% from the field. The above-mentioned Walker did have 23 points, while Byron Mullens had himself another strong night in the lineup getting the start over Boris Diaw, who streak of 235 games came to an end last night, and he was 7-15 from the field to finish with 20 on the evening and D.J. Augustin rounded out the Bobcats group of double-figure scorers with 16 points and 7 assists in the win last night.

And for Golden State, David Lee led the way with 24 points and 16 rebounds in 33 minutes of action, while he was joined by Monta Ellis, who had 18 in the loss as Warriors coach Mark Jackson, the former ESPN NBA analyst, called it a disappointing one for his squad. "We didn't show up. We thought it was going to be easy...this type of effort can not be accepted." Jackson quoted.

The other two double-figure scorers for Golden State were Nate Robinson and Dorell Wright with 12 points each as Stephen Curry missed last night's game due to an ankle injury.

Tomorrow afternoon at Time Warner Cable Arena, Kyrie Irving will lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to town to face the Bobcats in a 2:00 p.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day battle, before Charlotte hits the road on Tuesday night for a Southeast Division battle with Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center.

Last night turned out to be another poor performance by the Charlotte Bobcats as the Detroit Pistons handed them their 6th straight loss after their 98-81 win over Charlotte before a crowd of 18,043 at Time Warner Cable Arena. The problem on the night was the rebounding game as Detroit out-rebounded Charlotte by a final margin of 46-34, as Detroit out-played and out-smarted Charlotte the whole game through and they did it behind Jonas Jerebko's 22-point outing to help carry the load for the Pistons, while he was joined by Greg Monroe, who had 19 points in the win for the Pistons. Ben Gordon had a strong outing as he only had 14 points, with Brandon Knight earning a double-double with 13 points to go with 10 rebounds and Tayshaun Prince rounded out the list of double-figure starters for Detroit with 10 points.

Last night in Atlanta, the Hawks came out firing early and often as they managed to blow out the Charlotte Bobcats by 30 with a 111-81 win, on the day the team found out that they will be without center Al Horford for 3-4 months. The Hawks are now 8-4 on the season, while the Charlotte Bobcats drop to 2-9 and are on a 5-game losing streak.

"They just beat us down tonight." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, who is starting to be concerned about his team's lack of effort during this 5-game losing streak. "I was pleased with some of our bench play, but the first unit didn't just come with us." Atlanta took advantage from the early start and led throughout as Larry Drew was pleased with how the Hawks did to take Charlotte out of the game.

After Saturday's loss to the Indiana Pacers, Bobcats head coach Paul Silas said his team didn't play tough, but they improved drastically despite losing to the New York Knicks 91-87 at Madison Square Garden. The Bobcats record on the season is now 2-7, while the Knicks improve to 5-4.

"We did play an excellent game, but they're going to come at us with a vengeance." Silas said after what Charlotte did to New York last Wednesday defeating them 118-110, "I don't know if they took us for granted, but I know they're going all out to show us that we don't belong with them." Amare Stoudemire helped carry the load for the Knicks in the win, leading them with 25 points on 7-25 shooting from the field, and Carmelo Anthony, who finished the night with 22 points, had some interesting thoughts about Stoudemire's night in the New York win.

"It was just a will to win out there tonight." said Anthony, "We shot 30-something percent from the field(38.0% was the final average on the night), we had to grind it out defensively and crunch time, we had to make something do."

Joining Stoudemire and Anthony on the Knicks list of double-figure scorers in the win was former Bobcat Tyson Chandler, who scored 20 points to go with 13 rebounds and Iman Shumpert rounded out the list with 15 points as New York managed to shoot 38.0% from the field.

The Bobcats were one better, out-shooting New York by a final mark of 41.5% from the field, while they did some work from the free-throw line with 80%, despite the Knicks out-rebounding Charlotte 50-49. Leading the way in the loss for the Bobcats was Boris Diaw, who picked up where he left off in last Wednesday's win with a 19 point outing on only 8-12 shooting, while grabbing down 10 rebounds. Joining him was D.J. White with 15 points off the bench. Gerald Henderson was only 7-16 from the field, but did manage to finish with 14 points, with D.J. Augustin adding in 12 points and Kemba Walker rounded out Charlotte's group of double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Last Saturday in Indianapolis, the Indiana Pacers found a way to overcome a struggling start as they battled back in the second half and came away with a 99-77 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. The loss drops Charlotte to 2-6 on the season, while the Pacers improved to 6-2 on the year.

"We did not play tough." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, "They banged us up and we didn't respond. We played hard in the first half and I'm not sure what happened in the second." One main reason why Charlotte didn't play tough is the Pacers Roy Hibbert leading the Pacers with 20 points in the effort, as Danny Granger was pleased with how Indiana played to get the win over a struggling Bobcats team. "I think we've got a mark on our back now." said Granger, who finished the night with 13 points, "They(Charlotte) realize that we are a good team and we're here to stay."

Hibbert did have 20 points to lead the way for Indiana in their win, but he was also joined by former Carolina Tar Heel Tyler Hansbrough, who came off the bench and scored 15 points on 6-12 shooting from the field. After Thursday's loss to the Miami Heat back in Atlanta, the Hawks knew that they were angry and looking to take their frustrations out on the Charlotte Bobcats last night before 17,827 at Time Warner Cable Arena, and the Hawks had to work overtime, again and they came away with a 102-96 win over the Bobcats. The Hawks improve to 5-3, while the Bobcats drop to 2-5.

Larry Drew knew that he wanted Josh Smith to take over on the night and he did as he led all scorers with 23 points on 11-18 shooting from the field to go with 13 rebounds, while he was joined by Marvin Williams and Al Horford, who both had 15 points each. Joe Johnson only had 14 points(6-17 from the field) and Vladimir Radmanovic came off the bench to help round out the group of double-figure scorers for the Hawks with 11 in the win.

And for Charlotte in the loss, D.J. Augustin led the way with 21 points to go with 12 assists. Tonight, the Bobcats are in Indianapolis to face the Pacers at The Fieldhouse for a 7:00 tip-off.

If the Charlotte Bobcats had one person who would step up and take matters into their own hands tonight, then it would have to be Boris Diaw, the forward-turned-center that would come out of nowhere and put together a strong outing with 27 points to lead the way for the Bobcats to snap their 4-game losing streak tonight against the New York Knicks by the final score of 118-110.

The Bobcats are now at 2-4 on the season, and the 118 point performance ranks as the second-highest point total scored against New York in the team's 8-year history, while the Knicks fall to 2-4 on the year.

"I didn't say a word and I knew that he was going to come with it tonight." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas about Diaw's big night, "We've gone through that before and the next game he's played well." Silas quoted, while Boris did enjoy his night against a struggling Knick team in tonight's game. "Some games I'm going to score a lot of points and some not." Diaw said, "And against this kind of team(the Knicks), yeah, I like these kind of games."

He was the driving force behind Charlotte's win to snap the skid as the team shot lights-out from the field with a final average of 55.3%, while they managed to get those three-point shots down, finishing the night with 63.6%, and did some damage from the free-throw line with an astonishing 81%. In addition, the Bobcats out-rebounded New York by a final margin of 27-19.

Joining Diaw on the list of Bobcats double-figure scorers was Gerald Henderson, who was 10-13 from the field to finish with 24 points. B.J. Mullens came off the bench and had another good outing as he continues his impressive play this season for the Bobcats after coming over from the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he had 16 points on 6-8 shooting from the field, while D.J. Augustin finished the game with 14 points to go with 10 assists.

Corey Maggette had another good outing tonight, going 4-12 to finish with 12 points and D.J. White rounds out the Bobcats group of double-figure scorers with 10 on the night for the victorious Bobcats, who finish the road trip with a 1-2 mark. And for the New York Knicks, who were rarely booed by their fans at Madison Square Garden tonight, their leading scorer on the night was Carmelo Anthony, who led all scorers with 32 points on 12-24 shooting.

Joining Carmelo was Amar'e Stoudemire with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Iman Shumpert came off the bench and finished with 18 points for the Knicks, who had a rough night shooting-wise with a final field-goal percentage of 49.4%.

Also on the list of double-figure scorers for New York were Toney Douglas, who finished his night with 13 points on just 6-17 shooting from the field and former Charlotte Bobcat Tyson Chandler rounded out the Knicks group of double-figure scorers with 11 points. The Cleveland Cavaliers handed the Charlotte Bobcats its 4th straight loss last night at Quicken Loans Arena as they held on to a 115-101 win over Charlotte, dropping the Bobcats to 1-4 on the season, while Cleveland goes to 3-2.

The difference makers in the win for Cleveland last night were Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, two of the guys that Cavs owner Dan Gilbert consider to be the driving force behind the rebuilding of a Cleveland franchise that is looking to return to glory. The two combined to score 36 points, with Irving leading the way with 20 points(8-10 from the field) to go with 6 assists, while Thompson 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Joining the two were Antawn Jamison, the proud Charlotte native who played his High-School basketball at Providence High and his college ball at North Carolina, and he finished his night with 19 points in the Cleveland win, and Ramon Sessions, along with Anthony Parker rounded out the Cavaliers list of double-figure scorers with 11 points each. As a team, the Cavaliers shot an even 50% from the field.

And for the Bobcats in the loss, they did manage to get some shots down despite the loss, shooting just 44.4% from the field, but they out-rebounded Cleveland by a final mark of 46-41 and out-shot them from the free-throw line(89.5%). Individually for Charlotte, it was D.J. Augustin that led the way with 26 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, while Corey Maggette contributed to the effort with 21 points. The 129 points scored by Miami in the game are the most points scored by any team in the NBA so far during this short 66-game regular season, while the 39 point margin matched the third-largest margin of victory in the history of the Heat dating back to its founding in the 1988-89 season.

Leading the way for Miami in tonight's win was Chris Bosh, who had 24 points on 9-13 shooting from the field, while notching 10 rebounds in the process for Erik Spoelstra's squad. There was one person that was on fire for Orlando that did the Bobcats in and that was Ryan Anderson, who led all scorers with 23 points on 8-18 shooting from the field for the Magic, as he contributed to the game's final field goal percentage on the evening with 44.0%. Joining him in the effort was Dwight Howard, who destroyed Charlotte on the rebounding game with almost half of the team's 49 rebounds with 24(18 of them were defensive rebounds). If you weren't part of a sell-out crowd of over 19,614 last night at Time Warner Cable Arena, which happened to be the largest crowd to see a game in franchise history, then you missed one hell of a game, as Dywane Wade's clutch jumper with 2.9 seconds remaining sealed the deal for the Miami Heat as they defeated the Charlotte Bobcats last night 96-95, improving to 2-0 on the year, while Charlotte falls to 1-1 on the year.

"When coach Spoelstra called it, I was shocked because this guy had it going on." said Wade, who finished the night with 10 points in the win for the Heat. But the real man who stole the show for them in last night's win was LeBron James, who led the way with 35 points on 13-23 shooting, as the Heat finished the game with a final field-goal percentage of 46.2% as they came back from a 15-point halftime deficit to win it.

Chris Bosh was only 8-13 from the field, but finished the game with 25 points in the winning effort, with Mario Chalmers ending his night with 15 and the above-mentioned Wade, the hero of last night's effort did finish with 10 as we mentioned earlier, and when he hit that shot, he stole the "Superman" pose that's been immortalized by Cam Newton, the potential NFL Rookie of the Year Quarterback from the Carolina Panthers.

After a long layoff with the Lockout over the last 2 1/2 months, NBA Basketball finally returned to the "Queen City" as a Opening Night crowd of 17,173 saw the Charlotte Bobcats hold on to their dear lives as they escaped with a season opening win over the Milwaukee Bucks 96-95.

But they did it on the rebounding side of the game, out-rebounding the Bucks in the second half by a 33-14 margin, that was one of the things that Bobcats coach Paul Silas wanted to see his team do in the second half of the game, and it worked out perfectly for Charlotte. "You could see everyone crashing the boards." said Bobcats center Boris Diaw, who finished with 11 rebounds to go with his 9 points on the night for the Bobcats in the win.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was D.J. Augustin, who had 19 points on 7-16 shooting from the field, while Gerald Henderson had a great outing in his season debut for Charlotte, going 7-14 from the field to finish with 18 points. The story of the night was Kemba Walker, who made his season debut in a Charlotte Bobcats uniform and he had only 13 points on 3-10 shooting, but was a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line.

But he had the highlight of the night, when he bought the crowd to its feet, especially Cam Newton, the rookie Quarterback from the Carolina Panthers in attendance, as he took on the Bucks Larry Sanders and crossing him over. He would convert on a three-point play after Sanders fouled him.
Corey Maggette came out of nowhere and having a 12 point performance and Byron Mullens made a great impact on the Bobcats victory by rounding out Charlotte's group of double-figure scorers with 10 points in his Charlotte debut.

And for the Milwaukee Bucks, who fell to 0-1 on the loss, it was Brandon Jennings that led the way with 22 points, while Andrew Bogut had a 17 point outing in the loss. The Bobcats next home game will be this Wednesday night against LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat at 7:00 p.m.

Last night was a "Coming out party" for Bobcats rookie Kemba Walker, as he delivered an 18-point performance in the Charlotte Bobcats 79-77 win over the Atlanta Hawks before an announced crowd of 9,224 at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte's preseason opener.

"He's just, just, just got it." says Bobcats Head Coach Paul Silas, "He understands the game."
Walker led the way with 18 points(4-13 from the field) in his first action in the NBA, and he liked what he saw in last night's preseason opener. "I've always been a really good in-between player." said Walker.

Joining Walker in the effort was Boris Diaw, who is now Charlotte's center this season, and he finished the night with 12 points on 5-8 shooting, and Derrick Brown rounded out the double-figure scoring for Charlotte with 10 in the win for the Bobcats.

The Atlanta Hawks were led in their loss by Josh Smith and Al Horford with 11 points each.

These same two teams will meet again on Thursday night in Atlanta at Philips Arena for a 7:30 tip-off.

This year's edition of the Bobcats will include several returning players from last season, including D.J. Augustin, Gerald Henderson, and Boris Diaw, while fans will get their first look at Kemba Walker in a Bobcat uniform in tonight's preseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks. But there is one player fans won't see tonight, Bismack Biyombo, who reached his settlement with his team in the Spanish league, and head coach Paul Silas says that he could play on Thursday in Atlanta.

In addition, there are several offers that fans can take advantage of if you're going to the game tonight. For fans that can't make it to tomorrow night's game at Time Warner Cable Arena, you can catch tomorrow's preseason opener on television.

Last Friday, SportSouth, the exclusive television rights holder for the Charlotte Bobcats announced that they will carry both of the Bobcats preseason games against the Atlanta Hawks, starting with tomorrow night's game at Time Warner Cable Arena, which is a 7:00 tip-off, with "Bobcats Live" beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, both teams will square off in Atlanta at Philips Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start, with "Bobcats Live" starting at 7:00 p.m.

The 2011-12 season will mark SportSouth's 2nd full season carrying Bobcats Basketball to its viewers in North and South Carolina, and they are expected to carry at least 65 games this season. Steve Martin, who has been with the organization since its inception back in 2004-05, will return for his 6th full season as the television voice of the Bobcats, while Dell Curry, who many Charlotte NBA fans remember from his years with the Hornets will return as color analyst and Stephanie Ready returns for her 8th season as the sideline reporter for the games.

Bobcats Extra: Bobcats unveil its 2011-12 season schedule

The 2011-12 NBA schedule was officially unveiled, and the Charlotte Bobcats will begin their 8th season of play in the National Basketball Association on December 26th at Time Warner Cable Arena against the Milwaukee Bucks to begin a 3-game season opening homestand, which will feature a visit from LeBron James, D-Wade, and the Miami Heat on the 28th and Dwight Howard will bring the Orlando Magic to Charlotte on December 29th.

The Bobcats longest homestand of the 2011-12 season will occur from April 15th, that's when the Bobcats begin their 5-game stretch at home against the Boston Celtics, through April 22nd, when Charlotte wraps it up against the Sacramento Kings.

The biggest surprises on the Bobcats schedule this season is that Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers, as well as Dirk Nowitzki and the defending NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks, won't be coming to Charlotte. Instead, the Bobcats will make their lone visit to L.A. on January 31st to begin a 4-game road trip, while their game against the Mavericks in Dallas will be on March 15th. The Bobcats lone national TV appearance of the year will be their home finale on April 26th, when Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks pay a visit for the regular season finale on TNT.

Bobcats Extra: Bobcats to play Hawks in 2 preseason games

Earlier today, the Charlotte Bobcats announced that they will play 2 preseason games against their NBA Southeast Division rivals, the Atlanta Hawks, with the first game being played on Monday, December 19th at 7:00 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena, while the two teams will meet each other again on December 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Tickets for the preseason game are on sale now, with tickets starting at $10 in the Upper Level, while Lower Level seats start at $25 and they can be purchased at the LifeLock Box Office at Time Warner Cable Arena. Also, all kids 14 and under are admitted free.

Both preseason games will be heard on the Bobcats Radio Network, with the December 19th game being heard locally on America's Talk 1660, while the game on December 22nd will be on 610 The Fan.

Hello everyone, I haven't been on here over the last 5 1/2 months, but I'm happy to report that the Lockout has finally come to an end! I gave this blog a lockout of their own since I wasn't allowed to talk about it, but now that a deal has reached to get the season underway, I'm looking forward to talk Bobcats Basketball as well as the NBA in general once again here on BobcatZone!

With that being said, it is indeed time to get back to our one true love here in the Carolinas, NBA basketball, Charlotte Bobcats style. When we last left our story, we drafted 2 pretty good players in Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo, hired a new General Manager in Rich Cho and finally removing the interim tag from Paul Silas, making him our coach for the upcoming season.

I'm so happy that NBA basketball is back with a 66-game season, meaning that we'll see 33 home games at Time Warner Cable Arena this season, and all of us here in "Bobcat Nation" is stoked to see what's in store for our Charlotte Bobcats this season as we get ready to "Prepare Today so we can Own Tomorrow".

I can't wait for this season to begin, like many of you are and come December 26th, we'll finally hear the words that we've been longing to hear: "It's time................FOR BOBCATS BASKETBALL!!!!

Bobcats hit a homer with Cho's hiring

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo Bobcats fans!!!!!! In case you missed the news back on Wednesday, the Charlotte Bobcats made some interesting moves in their front office, promoting Rod Higgins to the title of President of Basketball Operations and naming Rich Cho as their new general manager, the third in the team's 8-year history. To me, I think the Bobcats had a 3-2 count with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and they knocked one out of the park, and many of us fans thought that it was a good hire for Bobcats Chairman Michael Jordan.

I've been following this team since the start, and sure, we didn't like some of the moves at first during our early years, but with the hire of Cho, we are finally getting an opportunity to do what our theme for the 2011-12 season will be about, "Prepare Today, Own Tomorrow.", and if you took a look at his background in his NBA career, he has a strong reputation of building teams into contenders, and he built two teams into contenders over in the Western Conference, and Cho has a vision to make the Bobcats a strong favorite to contend in the Eastern Conference.

For example, he spent last season as the General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers, in which he made history as the first Asian-American General Manager in pro sports, and prior to that, he was instrumental in building the Seattle SuperSonics, which evolved into the Oklahoma City Thunder into a powerhouse for a couple of seasons, and we Bobcats fans hope he can do the same thing here in Charlotte.

Now, the reason why we Bobcats fans think hiring Rich Cho was a good move for the Bobcats with the NBA Draft taking place next week is that this team needs some good players out there in not only the Draft, in which we have the 9th, 19th picks in the 1st Round and the 39th pick in the 2nd Round, but hopefully finding some good Free Agents as well to join a talented line-up that has the likes of D.J. Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Boris Diaw, and Stephen Jackson.

Another reason why this move was a good one for the Bobcats is that we needed a General Manager with a lot of experience, knowledge and a true passion for the game of basketball, and with Rich Cho now in town as our General Manager, he can bring all three of those key ingredients that I mentioned above to make the Charlotte Bobcats a contender in a very tough, but yet competitive Eastern Conference that includes the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and the list goes on and on.

Just like all the other Bobcats fans that are supporters of this young franchise, I'm feeling confident that Rich Cho can be a successful GM here in Charlotte with a team that is looking to make a lot of noise in the 2011-12 campaign as we continue our quest to prepare for today so we can own tomorrow. Bobcats Extra: Cho to become new Bobcats General Manager

When we woke up this morning to prepare for our day, we found out some breaking news that just came out of the Bobcats offices at 333 East Trade Street to start our day with, and it was that the Charlotte Bobcats have announced that Rich Cho has been named the third General Manager in the franchise's 8 year history, and Cho replaces Rod Higgins, who was promoted to become the team's President of Basketball Operations in an announcement that was made earlier this morning by Bobcats Chairman Michael Jordan.

"In making these moves, we will continue to build this team into one that can compete at the elite levels of the Eastern Conference and the NBA." Jordan quoted. "Rod's tireless efforts and leadership have our team moving in the right direction and the addition of Rich Cho brings another bright mind to our organization."

Cho previously served as the General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2010-11 season and had the distinction of being the first Asian-American General Manager in professional sports and prior to that, he spent the past 10 years as the Assistant General Manager of the Seattle Supersonics and remained with them when they moved to Oklahoma City and were renamed the Thunder, and now that Cho has been hired as the Bobcats General Manager, his first task is to decide who will the Bobcats choose with the 9th, 19th, and 39th picks in next week's NBA Draft.

"Over the last decade he(Cho) has become known as one of the best in the business at analytics and salary cap management." Higgins said, "We look forward to him bringing those abilites to our organization." We'll have more details on the hiring of Cho later in the day as the story develops.

Burks, Morris, or Thompson? The Bobcats choice is there for the taking

With the NBA Draft less than 29 days away, I've been paying close attention to some of the Mock Drafts out there predicting who should the Charlotte Bobcats pick at number 9 in the draft, and in my opinion, it's a tight toss up between Alec Burks, Tristan Thompson, and Marcus Morris if you've been paying close attention to last week's pre-draft combines. So, with that in mind, here is a little profile on the three players that could be there for the taking at #9 for your Charlotte Bobcats.

1. Alec Burks(Guard, Colorado)

This past season, Burks averaged 20.5 points per game with the Buffaloes and in his two seasons playing there, he added his name to the record books, as he holds the freshman scoring record with 512 and the sophmore scoring record with 779 points. Some say that he compares himself to a young Tracy McGrady, and I for one thinks that he might prove his case to be selected at the 9th spot for Charlotte if he is available because in my opinion, he could learn a lot from D.J. Augustin and Stephen Jackson and that could give head coach Paul Silas somewhat of a 3rd or 4th option at the guard position for the Bobcats.

2. Marcus Morris(Forward, Kansas)

After the trade that sent Gerald Wallace to Portland, it opened up a huge hole to fill for Charlotte, and if they play their cards right, Marcus Morris could be a right guy to be a supporting player off the bench if he does get selected. Morris had a good year last season at Kansas, averaging 17.2 points per game, and he was a force on the boards too, notching 10 double-doubles last season.

Of course, a lot of us fans do need a big man, but Morris may be a good all-around player in this league, that's if he gets the job done night in and night out, and here's my takeaway on Morris: Marcus Morris can give the Bobcats an opportunity to see what he has in store to make it in the NBA, and he may be the second coming of Wallace, but we'll have to give him some time first.

3. Tristan Thompson(Forward, Texas)

Another option that the Bobcats have a the coveted forward spot would have to be Tristan Thompson out of Texas. During his freshman year, Thompson started in 34 out of 36 games with the Longhorns, and he finished his 1 season there with an average of 13.1 points per game. He could give this team a presence at the forward/center position if he is there at the 9th spot, and Thompson could be a missing piece to this puzzle. Of course, this past season, Kwame Brown had an okay year, but some say Tristan Thompson could be exactly what we need at the 9th spot, and the way I see it, it's a toss up between Thompson and Morris at the 9th spot.

There you have it, my look at the three players that could be there for your Charlotte Bobcats at the 9th spot come June 23rd, and as usual, the picks are always interesting and intriguing, but when the 9th pick rolls around, you'll never know what will owner Michael Jordan, General Manager Rod Higgins, and head coach Paul Silas are going to do to continue to build a franchise into a strong contender in the Eastern Conference. NBA Mock Draft(Part 2)

Earlier this week, we unveiled our first installment of BobcatZone's 2011 NBA Mock Draft, and it was very interesting to see who the Cleveland Cavaliers took with the top spot in our mock draft, and that was Kyrie Irving out of Duke University, while coming in at number 2 was Derrick Williams out of Arizona going to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz taking Brandon Knight out of Kentucky with the third overall pick. Of course, we had the Charlotte Bobcats taking Tristan Thompson out of Texas with the 9th pick in the draft. This time around, we decided to move some players up, while others will remain the same, and some will go down in the order, as we unveil the second installment of our 2011 NBA Mock Draft for the First Round, as we are only 33 days away from the actual draft on June 23rd in New York City.

As we get ready for the 2011 NBA Draft taking place on June 23rd in New York, I'll be doing several Mock Drafts to see who will be going where. Of course, our hometown Charlotte Bobcats have the 9th and 19th pick in the First Round, while they have the 39th pick in the Second Round. Bobcats Extra: Charlotte to pick 9th, Cavaliers to pick 1st in NBA Draft

Less than an hour ago, the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery took place, and in the end, it was the Cleveland Cavaliers who won the lottery and they have the privilege of selecting 1st in the June 23rd NBA Draft at Madison Square Garden. And for the Charlotte Bobcats, they knew that they were going to pick 9th in the Draft, while they have the 19th pick(from New Orleans via Portland) also in the 1st Round and the 39th pick in the Second Round of the Draft.

While I was watching it, I did came across two interesting observations. It was nice to see former Phoenix Suns star Kevin Johnson, who is the Mayor of Sacramento, represent the Kings at the Draft Lottery as they try to find a way to remain in Sacramento, and the best one of the night was that Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, enlisted his 14 year old son, Nick to represent the Cavaliers, after their downfall last season. Here's the interesting fact about Nick, he is an ambassador for the Children's Tumor Foundation and he has Neurofibromatosis, and it was indeed another great Draft Lottery moment since last year, when Irene Pollin represented the late Abe Pollin, the former owner of the Washington Wizards and she helped the team get the top pick, which was eventually John Wall.

Now that the lottery is over, it's time to get to work here in the Bobcat Nation to see who will be the right fit to join a good Bobcats roster that includes the likes of D.J. Augustin, Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw, and Gerald Henderson, and all I know is that owner Michael Jordan, General Manager Rod Higgins and Head Coach Paul Silas(who represented the Bobcats at the lottery) hope to get the right player to translate into another successful story in the history of the Charlotte Bobcats organization. Bobcats Extra Recap: Bobcats 96, Hawks 85

Last night before a crowd of 16,138 at Time Warner Cable Arena, the Charlotte Bobcats wanted to send the fans home with one more win under their belt, and they did it in style, as they came away with a 96-85 win over their rivals from down Interstate 85, the Atlanta Hawks. With the win, the Bobcats wrapped up the 2010-11 season with a final record of 34 wins and 48 losses, while the Hawks finished the season at 44-38 and will face the Orlando Magic in the 1st round on the 2010 Eastern Conference playoffs starting on Saturday.

"I told them we must win this ball game so we can go into next season on a high note. That's exactly what happened and I have to commend the guys." said Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, who took over as coach after the resignation of Larry Brown back in December.

On the night, the Bobcats were led in scoring by second-year star Gerald Henderson, who finished with 20 points as he was 9-17 from the field and he hopes that his team can get an opportunity to be better next season. "We didn't do what we wanted as a team this year, so we have a lot to work on as a team so we can make the playoffs next year." Henderson said.

He was also joined by D.J. Augustin as he capped off his season with a 17 point performance, while Dante Cunningham had another double-figure performance in last night's finale with 14 points with DJ White getting into the act with 12 off the bench and rounding out the double-figure scoring for Charlotte was Kwame Brown, who had 11 points and 8 rebounds. As a team, Charlotte shot exceptionally well, from the field(50%), three-point range(30%), and from the free-throw line(81.3%). The Bobcats and Hawks were all squared on the rebounding battle as both teams finished with 37 rebounds each in last night's game.

And for the Atlanta Hawks, coach Larry Drew was quite concerened about how his team played last night. "I was hoping I could pull it out of our guys to continue to play hard. Now, it's time to flip the switch and I'm pretty confident they will do that." Drew said. His team was led in scoring by Josh Powell, who came off the bench and finished the game with 16 points as he was 5-10 from the field, while he was joined in the effort by Jamal Crawford and Damien Wilkins, who had 14 points each and rounding out the list of double-figure scoring for the Hawks were Kirk Hinrich and Jeff Teague with 10 points each, as Charlotte's defense managed to hold Al Horford, Joe Johnson, and Josh Smith to just single-digits.

And with that, another season of Charlotte Bobcats Basketball has come to a close. It was somewhat of an up and down season for us fans of this team. We had some good moments, especially with some great wins over the Celtics, L.A. Lakers, and New York Knicks along the way, and some bad moments along the way. We had some changes that drastically changed this team during this journey, from the resignation of Larry Brown back in December, to the trade of Gerald Wallace to Portland in February, that totally threw us off and not letting us make this year's playoffs.

And as we look ahead to the 2011-2012 season, we believe that this team, led by Paul Silas, can definitely get better with time and can be once again, a contender in a very tough, but yet competitive Eastern Conference here in the NBA, but first, we do have some draft picks coming up in June's NBA Draft and we desperately need some good moves in free-agency, and as fans of this team, we just can't wait to see what will be in store for the 8th season of Bobcats Basketball. So, until we meet again in October, I'd like to do a little Ryan Seacrest to close this season out: "Charlotte Bobcats Basketball 2010-2011.......................OUT!"

Scouting the Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks enter tonight's regular season finale on a 5-game losing streak and are looking to get a well-deserved win over their I-85 rivals, the Charlotte Bobcats on the road before they face the Orlando Magic in the 1st Round of the Eastern Conference playoffs this weekend. Larry Drew hopes taht Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, and the rest of the Hawks can step it up tonight in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Bobcats already know that they won't be in the playoffs this season, but they'll be playing for pride tonight in their regular season finale as they welcome in the Atlanta Hawks to Time Warner Cable Arena. There's going to be a lot of questions to be answered this off-season for Charlotte as they do have two draft picks in June's NBA Draft, and hopefully making some good moves in the Free Agent market, but first, the Bobcats hope to finish the 2010-11 season strong tonight at home as they look for a win over the Atlanta Hawks.

After 6 tough losses, including one that knocked them out of playoff contention, the Charlotte Bobcats traveled to the Prudential Center in Newark and they took the New Jersey Nets to the limit, but with less than 1.1 seconds remaining in regulation, Paul Silas wanted to put the ball in the hands of D.J. Augustin, and he delivered it in the clutch as his game-winning jumper helped the Bobcats snap their long 6-game losing streak as they defeated New Jersey 105-103. The win improved the Bobcats record on the season to 33-48 on the year, while New Jersey falls to 24-57.

Bobcats head coach Paul Silas was indeed relieved to see his team finally get a win to snap their long losing streak entering tonight's game. "It was fun, but nerve racking, and these guys never quit on me, but it was a rough game." Silas said, "We did have a double-digit lead, but they played hard. Boris made some big plays, but give these guys credit, they never quit."

The Bobcats had a good double-digit lead that disappeared as New Jersey did gave themselves an opportunity to win, but Charlotte never gave up and never gave in as they escaped out of Newark winners tonight.

For the second consecutive night, it was Dante Cunningham that led the way for the Bobcats, as in 34:33 of playing time, He was 10-16 from the field to finish with 21 points, while Boris Diaw had a great game as he scored 20 points in the Charlotte win. The above-mentioned Augustin did hit the game winner to cap off his 19 point outing, with Gerald Henderson going 6-14 from the field for his 14 on the night and Kwame Brown rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the Charlotte Bobcats with 11 points. As a team, Charlotte shot an even 57% from the field and out-rebounded the Nets by a +1 margin(30-29).

And for New Jersey in their loss, it was the Brook Lopez show as he was 12-23 from the field to finish with a game-high 31 points to lead the Nets, while Jordan Farmar added in 20 as he was only 8-12 from the field. Sasha Vujacic played well for Avery Johnson's squad, going 7-13 from the field for 19 on the night and he was 3-5 from three-point range and former Tar Heel Brandan Wright rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Nets wtih 10 off the bench, as New Jersey out-shot Charlotte from three-point range(40%) and from the free-throw line(92.9%).

After 81 games, the 2010-11 edition of Charlotte Bobcats Basketball will come to an end on Wednesday night as the Bobcats welcome in the Atlanta Hawks to Time Warner Cable Arena for an 8:00 p.m. start.

Scouting the Bobcats

After their loss to the Detroit Pistons last night in Charlotte, the Charlotte Bobcats find themselves in a middle of a long 6-game losing skid as they enter tonight's game in Newark against the New Jersey Nets. Once again, the Bobcats will be without Stephen Jackson, Tyrus Thomas, and Eduardo Najera for the final 2 games of the year, and it's up to the other 9 players on the roster if they want to snap this 6-game losing skid tonight as the Bobcats wrap up the road portion of their schedule.

Scouting the Nets

The New Jersey Nets are looking ahead to the upcoming NBA Draft in June, but first of all, they'll have to finish the year off on a high note as New Jersey welcomes in the struggling Charlotte Bobcats to the Prudential Center tonight. Avery Johnson's squad hopes that Kris Humphries and Brook Lopez can give the Nets a reason to end the year strong as they wrap up the home portion of their campaign against Charlotte tonight in Newark.

Last night before 16,234 at Time Warner Cable Arena, it was somewhat of a tale of two halves for the Charlotte Bobcats, at first, they had a sizeable lead at the half, but once the second half came, the wheels fell off and the Detroit Pistons took advantage of Charlotte's missed opportunites and captialized it in a 112-101 win over the Bobcats. With that win, the Pistons improved to 29-51 on the year, while Charlotte fell to 32-48.

What did them in was the turnover game, in which the Bobcats turned the ball over 13 times that led to 20 Detroit points, and another main concern for Charlotte was the free-throw shooting, they only shot 45.0% from the charity stripe and they struggled big time in the final two quarters of action, as the Pistons outsmarted and outplayed Charlotte in getting their third straight win as Detroit finished the night shooting 55.6% from the field, 73.7% from the free-throw line and out-rebounding the Bobcats by a 39-29 margin.

Individually, the Pistons had 6 players reach double-figures in the win, with Rodney Stuckey coming off the bench and scoring 24 points to go along with his 11 assists, while he was followed by Charlie Villanueva, who was 8-15 from the field to finish with 20 points. Chris Wilcox had a solid outing for John Kuester's squad, finishing with 14 points, with Rip Hamilton adding in 11 and Greg Monroe and Jason Maxiell both rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Pistons with 10 points each.

And for Charlotte on the other side of the statsheet, they were led by Gerald Henderson, who had 21 points on the night, while Boris Diaw was only 8-13 from the field to finish the night with 20 points. They were also joined by Kwame Brown, who scored 19 points, with D.J. Augustin adding in 14 points to go with 14 assists and rounding out the double-figure scoring for Charlotte was Dante Cunningham, who had 10 int he loss for the Bobcats.

Tonight, Charlotte wraps up the road portion of the schedule in Newark as they take on the New Jersey Nets at 7:30, before wrapping up the season on Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks at Time Warner Cable Arena for an 8:00 start.

Scouting the Pistons

With another tough, difficult season coming to an end in "The Motor City", the Detroit Pistons are now playing for pride and not only that, they're also playing for John Kuester's job, which could be up in the air after this season ends. Last week, the team announced that it would be sold to Tom Gores, and he is hoping to give his team a makeover in the offseason, but first, the Pistons hope to play well in Charlotte tonight.

The Charlotte Bobcats enter tonight's game looking for some answers as they enter the off-season after not making the playoffs again this season. After being officially eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoff race with their loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night back in Charlotte, the Charlotte Bobcats traveled to Miami to face the Heat and avoid being swept, but it wasn't the way it went as the Heat defeated Charlotte 112-103 last night at AmericanAirlines Arena, With the win, Miami improved its record on the season to 55-24 and remain tied with the Boston Celtics for the second seed in the Eastern Conference, while Charlotte fell to 32-47 on the year.

"We had a chance. We just couldn't complete plays, but I am so proud of these guys not to give up and keep working hard and it was just a great effort." quoted Bobcats Head Coach Paul Silas on how his team responded after tough losses earlier in the week to Washington, Cleveland, and Orlando. He was also pleased with how Kwame Brown did in stepping things up for Charlotte in the loss, as he led the way with 23 points to go with 13 rebounds, and that too was a good bright spot for the Bobcats, who only have 3 games remaining on the season.

On the night, the Heat out-played the Bobcats well, leading in Field Goal percentage(56.5%), Three-pointers(33.3%), Free Throws(88.6%) and in rebounding(34-33), and that made Miami coach Erik Spoelstra very happy. "That's one down. We have to move forward and get ready for Sunday against Boston and we have to be in playoff mode as we finish these last three games up." Spoelstra said.

Individually for Miami, they were co-led in scoring by Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, who had 27 points each in the win, with Bosh adding in 10 rebounds to his credit, while LeBron James was only 9-15 from the field to finish the night with 23 points, despite only having 7 rebounds and 9 assists and Zydrunas Ilgauskas rounded out Miami's list of double-figure scorers with 10 as Miami continued its playoff preparations.

And for the Charlotte Bobcats in the loss, they saw 5 other players reach double-figures besides Kwame Brown's 23 point/13 rebound outing. Garrett Temple came off the bench and was he was good off the Bobcats bench finishing with 17 points on 4-9 shooting from the field, while DJ White continued his strong play off Charlotte's bench and had 13 in the effort. The Charlotte Bobcats entered Wednesday night on the chopping block as they knew a loss combined with a win by the Indiana Pacers would knock them out of the playoff hunt. After coming back to tie it up in the 4th, the Orlando Magic scored early and often in overtime to come away with a 111-102 win over the Bobcats before a crowd of 16,234 at Time Warner Cable Arena to put a end to Charlotte's playoff hopes after the Pacers defeated Washington that same night.

The loss now drops the Bobcats to 32-46 on the year, while Orlando improved to 50-29. The Bobcats knew that Orlando was too tough to handle on Wednesday, as the Bobcats had somewhat of a sizeable lead, but the 4th Quarter once again doomed them as the Magic put the game in the hands of Gilbert Arenas, who led the way with 25 points on 9-14 shooting and was a staggering 6-11 from three-point range. Arenas did also have some support as well, with Brandon Bass getting into the act and finishing the night going 6-10 from the field with 19 points, while Jameer Nelson had 18 points on just 8-12 shooting from the field. Hedo Turkoglu played exceptionally well for Stan Van Gundy's squad, going 6-13 from the field to finish with 17 points.

Dwight Howard had somewhat of an off night, he only scored 15 points on only 5-9 shooting, as Charlotte's defense only held him to just 7 rebounds and Ryan Anderson rounded out Orlando's group of double-figure scorers with 10 off the bench. As a team, the Magic finished the night shooting 53.9% from the field and out-rebounded Charlotte by a +2 margin(35-33).

And for Charlotte in the loss, despite winning the three-point shooting war(54.5%) and the free-throw game(90.0%), they were led in scoring by Gerald Henderson, who set a new career high with 32 points as he was 12-22 from the field and only 1-2 from three-point range. Last night at Quicken Loans Arena, the Charlotte Bobcats had themselves a tough night, as the Cleveland Cavaliers got some revenge from last Wednesday's loss at Charlotte and settling the score as they defeated the Bobcats 99-89. The loss drops Charlotte to 32-45, and it gave the Indiana Pacers a 2 1/2 game lead over Charlotte for 8th in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavaliers on the other hand improved to 16-61 on the year.

"Quite frankly, we just don't have enough right now. We're short-handed." said Bobcats Head Coach Paul Silas, whose team is now facing elimination from the playoffs. "We almost have to play perfect basketball, which is almost impossible to do." With Charlotte being without 3 players in the lineup, it was just enough for Cleveland coach Byron Scott and his squad to turn up the volume and run up the score. "This was a pretty good win for us. I thought the guys really took up the challenge."

The Cavs led in every category on the final statsheet of the night, in Field Goal Percentage(45.1%), Three-point shooting(33.3%), Free-throws(85.0%) and in rebounding(43-39). On the night individually for Cleveland in the win, they were led in scoring by Ramon Sessions, who was 5-7 from the field to finish with 18 points, while J.J. Hickson, the former N.C. State star, along with Ryan Hollins both managed to score 16 points each, with Hickson adding in 19 rebounds. Alonzo Gee had a good night, with 13 points on only 5-8 shooting, with former Charlotte Hornet Baron Davis and Luke Harangody both adding in 11 each and rounding out the double-figure scoring for the Cleveland Cavaliers was Daniel Gibson and his 10 point outing.

And for the Charlotte Bobcats in the loss, it was D.J. Augustin that won the battle, as he led all game scorers with 22 points to go with 8 assists, while Gerald Henderson was only 6-15 from the field to end his night with 15. Matt Carroll was the Bobcats leading bench scorer with 13 off the bench and Kwame Brown along with Dante Cunningham both had 10 each, with Cunningham and Boris Diaw both having 11 rebounds in the losing cause for Charlotte.

The Charlotte Bobcats ran into a major roadblock back on Sunday night at Time Warner Cable Arena before 16,444 as the Washington Wizards came out with 97-91 win over Charlotte as the Bobcats failed to gain ground on the Indiana Pacers, who also lost on Sunday to the New Orleans Hornets, as Indiana continues to see their lead over Charlotte remain at 2 games for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

With the win, Washington improved to 20-56 on the season, while the Bobcats fell to 32-44. But the only bright spot for Charlotte was Matt Carroll, who came off the bench and he had himself a night in the loss, as he finished with a new season high in points with 26 to lead the Bobcats as he was 11-16 from the field. He was joined in the effort by D.J. Augustin as he finished the game with 21 points on only 6-16 shooting, while Boris Diaw, along with Gerald Henderson both had 13 points each and DJ White rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for the Bobcats in the loss with 10 points. As a team, Charlotte led in two categories on the final stats on Sunday, in three-point shooting(50%) and in free-throw shooting(90.5%), despite the Wizards out-rebounding the Bobcats 50-39.

And for the victorious Wizards, who shot well from the field with 44.3%, they saw all 5 starters reach double-figures, with Andray Blatche leading the way with 25 points on 10-19 shooting and he added in 17 rebounds to the mix, while Jordan Crawford had a solid game with 23 points. On Friday night, the Charlotte Bobcats adn Orlando Magic were both short-handed, but it didn't matter for Orlando as Dwight "Superman" Howard did managed to carry the load in the Magic's 89-77 victory over Charlotte at the Amway Center. Orlando improved its mark on the year to 48-28 and 10-5 in Southeast Division play, while Charlotte fell to 32-43 and are now 2 games behind the Indiana Pacers for 8th in the Eastern Conference playoff race with less than 2 weeks to go in the regular season.

"The Boston Celtics can get to day one of the playoffs and turn it on." said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, "The Spurs can do it, the Lakers can do it, the rest of us can't do it. We've got to go in and play with great intensity and energy." With Gilbert Arenas, Chris Duhon and J.J. Redick being out, the Magic did what they liked to do best: score, score, score and it proved well on the final stats on the night as Orlando finished the game shooting 42.3% from the field, despite Charlotte outshooting them with a final mark of 45.2% and did some damage from the free-throw line with 83.3%. On the rebounding side, both teams had 37 rebounds each in the game.

The above-mentioned Howard did lead the way for the Magic, as he got a double-double with 26 points on 10-14 shooting and adding in 14 rebounds, while he was jolned by Jameer Nelson, who was 5-13 from the field to finish up with 15 points. After a dramatic win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, the Charlotte Bobcats once again found themselves in another tight one as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers back on Wednesday night before 12,584 at Time Warner Cable Arena, and once again, the Bobcats escaped with another close win, as they defeated the Cavs 98-97. With that win, Charlotte improved to 32-42 and stay close within 1 game of the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, while Cleveland dropped to 15-59 and are closer to possibly securing the top spot in the NBA Draft Lottery.

The win also completed a perfect homestand for Charlotte at "The Cable Box", as they found a way to inch that much closer to getting back that 8th spot in the East, and tney did it without Stephen Jackson for the remainder of the second half, as Boris Diaw carried the load for the Bobcats, going 11-16 from the field to finish with 26 points with 11 assists to lead the Bobcats, while he was joined by Kwame Brown, who tied his own season high with 16 points as Charlotte finished the night shooting 56.0% from the field. Also receiving honorable mention were Gerald Henderson, who finished the night with 14 points on 6-12 shooting and Dante Cunningham came off the bench and rounded out the group of double-figure scorers for Charlotte with 12 points.

And for the Cavaliers in the loss, Ramon Sessions came off the bench and was on fire for Byron Scott's squad, as he finished the night with 24 points on just 7-12 shooting from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line too, while he was joined by J.J. Hickson, the former N.C. State star and his 20 point outing. Cleveland also had some support form Anthony Parker and his 14 points and former Charlotte Hornet Baron Davis had 11 in the Cavalier loss. Tonight, Charlotte puts its 4-game winning streak on the line against Dwight Howard and the Magic in Orlando for a 7:00 start.
